1970At the Basle Fair of 1970, Girard-Perregaux of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, shows a prototype of their quartz watch 'Elcron' with two batteries and a visible quartz bar. This watch was developed in co-operation with Thomson-C.S.F. of Paris France, Motorola USA and Jaeger-LeCoultre, Switzerland.
1972Girard-Perregaux shows for the first time, again at the Basle Fair, its commercial quartz watch caliber GP 350 with one battery and a packed crystal, an IC of SC and a stepping motor of Socrem. The Elcron wins the accuracy competition at the 'Observatoire de Neuchâtel'. Total production consisted of approximately 50,000 pieces, including the calibers that were derived from it. Derived calibers: 351, 352, 353 and 354. Jaeger-LeCoultre sold this watch under the name 'Master-Quartz' and Favre Leuba under the name 'Quartz Raider'.
1976The very small GP 641 is introduced at the Basle Fair. It had a frequency of 32 kHz, generated by a tuning fork quartz.
